N/A is a micronation (imaginary country) established by Eliza Huang, to discuss the legitimacy of a nation-state, the discrimination when going through border control based on race and nationality, moreover, investigating the relationship between nationality/passport and identity.
She created a playful border control system - by this toy machine, visitors will get the pass (which is a ceramics sculpture) based on the colour of the ceramics she will decide if she is going to ask the visitor questions: why are you visiting this country, where are you staying in this country, how much money you have in the bank account, do you have drugs...In the exhibition, all those stories were collected are in the headphones, in those stories, people were talking about how their experience going through border control - Are they discriminated against by the authority based on their race and nationality? Would they like to change their nationality to a more powerful one? Do they think their nationality is a part of their identity?
